I am 13, 14 in August. I'm not sure how long it's been exactly, but I know it's been TOO long. I don't even know when my last period was. I remember being rushed to the ER for severe abdominal pain, and they said I had just ovulated. (what a waste of 1,000 bucks, lol) I think I had just gotten off my period a couple weeks ago before that. I have always had very irregular periods. The first 2 months I had them they would be at the end of the month. Then
they would happen around the time my mom got them. Now, I just wait. I have never been
able to keep a calendar or anything because they are so random. My mom says her periods
were like this until she had me, then everything was fine. I've gone I think 3 months without
having a period before, but now I am getting worried. Almost 4 months? At least 3 by now.
Is something wrong? My dad says don't worry until I am sexually active, but seriously 4 months? Could I have cancer or something?! AMG :( I don't want to be cut down in my prime! I'm just starting my freshman year! But I'm afraid to go to a gynocologist because I'm afraid of anything getting put "up there". :o I am cramping right now along with bad gas, which are 2 symptoms I get when I am going to get my period, but I am also on Miralax which ALSO gives me cramping and gas. The cramping is mild too. My period cramps are normally so severe I can't stand up straight or walk. (Which is why I was rushed to the ER)

What's wrong with me?

I don't think anything is wrong with you. =] You are a 13 year old girl with irregular periods. That's OK! My sister went through the same thing, 4 months of nothing. But things got back to normal, and now she is on a more normal schedule.

But if you think that it is more serious, you might want to go see a doctor. Don't be scared, they won't hurt you, they are just trying the help!

Are you underweight, this can effect your periods. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but if you are concerned go see a doctor, just to put your mind at ease.

Good luck.

Oh my gosh! I was like that and I worried so much! Eventually I did go see the gynecologist because I hated that after months of waiting it would come unexpectedly and I wasn't prepared or I was at school. The gynecologist won't hurt you. You'd be happy you went. Mine suggested birth control pills for the sake of regulating my period, plus it reduces your risk of getting different kinds of cancer and it helps with cramping and such.

If you have only been having your period for a few years, it is not uncommon for them to still come at irregular times now and then. While some teens are quite regular from the start, many others won't be for awhile. In the vast majority of situations there isn't anything to worry about, but it would be wise to get a check-up just to rule out any concerns.
