I just recently bought a brand new Frigidaire washer/dryer stacked unit. Needless to say it did not come with a chord, so I bought a 4 prong chord and hooked it up. Seems pretty simple and all the books I have read point to me hooking the chord up right. So now when I try to start the dryer, it goes for 5 dseocnds, but really loud and then stops after 5 seconds. The washer won't even start up. I am pretty sure that the chord and plug are not the issue. Any thoughts?

Does it short-out or overload?
Try to use each machine one by one and see if the problem is still there.
If not the total power consumption of the units together is too high for the trip switch.

How many amps are your washer and dryer. Is it a 30 or 50 amp? You need to know this so you can make sure to buy the correct 4 prong plug. You also need to make sure that you have heavy enough wire behind the wall for the amount of amperage you're using. Make sure the circuit breaker is the same amperage as the 30 or 50 amp cord/outlet you are using. Keeping everything consistent is key.
