My ceiling fan of about 18 yrs came with a special controller that required special wiring. I have the schematics for it. It involves black wire, blue wire and white wire. The switch for the light has croaked & won't turn off. The rheostat for the fan is a five speed dial similar to a dimmer switch. I do not know the make of the fan since it has been too many years ago & that brain cell has passed away.

I have tried searching for wall controllers on Google but I'm not getting anywhere in finding an appropriate replacement. The back of the bad controller has 4 wires emerging. The top set is for the fan and the bottom set is for the light. Each shows the hot coming in to each on one side and then the wire going to the fan and the light going into the other side. What can I replace this controller with? Is there another search term for this product? Does anyone have any ideas on something else I could use to at least make the fan function?

Wouldn't do like it was, but how you now want it. If the Fan has a white for neutral, black for fan, and blue for light, then replace with 2 switches or dimmer and fan control.
If you like the remote function, they sell universal transmitter/receiver kits.
