I live with a common law partner since 2004 in Ontario Canada. We have 2 kids, 6 & 2 years old. I decided to buy property oversees but I wanted to put it under my girls name since I will die one day and that can belong to them. That was not possible since they are too small, so it went under my name. He has all his assets under his parents name car and truck. The truck is his business. If we separate does he get part of the property too? Even though I paid for it?

Very possible, why if you are "partners" are both of you keeping all the property separate, parents name, kids name and so on.?
It seems it is not a real settled relationship.

Why did you not form a corporation to buy the property?
