Many plumber have told me that chemical cleaners are really bad on the drain. Do the chemical cleaners really damage the pipes in anyway? What are the safest chemical cleaner for the pipes and is sulfuric acid safe on pipes? What is best for grease in drain pipes. Thanks

There are a number of biological cleaners on the market now that contain enzymes/bacteria to digest the substances in your drain pipes... what is available in your area, I don't know...

is sulfuric acid safe on pipes? I can not advise against using muratic acid, or any acid, in a enclosed area such as a rest room strongly enough. As a young boy I would take limed up toilet bowls out in the alley behind the shop and boil the lime out of them. Over half a century later my lungs still carry the scar tissue that the acid fumes caused. A few years ago I lost a good friend when he used a commercial drain cleaner containing sulfuric acid in a unvented bathroom. Acid IS NOT A GOOD IDEA to use to clear mineral buildup. Take it from one who's paid the price. Regards, Tom

Muriatic Acid is 25% Hydrochloric Acid... not very dilute.

These days they are being replaced by Sulphamic and Glycolic Acids, but I don't feel that using organic acids would be any better for you..

We never recommend any "Liquid Plumber" chemicals to be put in drains in order to unclog blocked drain.

Just a misunderstanding! You just didn't read far enough KISS. I know the difference between muratic and sulfuric acid.
