I've known this girl since pre-school and our families have been good friends since then. Over the last few years though, I've had feelings for her. I want to ask her out, but there are a few dilemmas. I'm not sure what she thinks of me, I'm worried that it will be too awkward for her and we'll lose are existing friendship which isn't something I want to risk. I'm also pretty sure that if she did say yes, neither of our parents would be too happy, just because of the way they are about stuff like that. How do I proceed?

How old are you and her?
Do you get to see much of each other as friends?
Do you and her have conversations about things?
Or is she more like someone that you basically just see and never get to spend time with or talk to?

We're both 15, she's a day older.
We haven't been able to see each other much recently. We usually just get together when our families get together as we don't live that close together. We do talk online pretty much every day though.
Yes, all the time.

My suggestion? See if it is possible to hang out with her outside of when the families get together- at least that way you can start gaging her interest level outside of being a family obligation. Take things slow,
I would mention something online one day like 'oh it's too bad we live so far apart otherwise we could have been hanging out more'.. something like that, maybe not as cheesy. And see what her response is

Its not quite like that. We are friends. We talk online tons, and not just because our families are friends.

Don't worry! I know exactly how you feel, Emasher!! I really like this guy who is a family friend, but what I'm concerned about is his older bro who if he saw/ heard anything I would never live it down... I haven't seen him in ages, he lives a bit away, too...
