How do go about getting married to someone who is in jail?

You need to rethink marrying someone who is in jail.

Can you not wait until they are out of jail? How long until they are released (if at all)? I would also take into consideration present and future children, and the impact that an incarcerated spouse would have on their life/lives.

First is it jail or is it prison, there is a big difference.

In jail you will have to get in contract with the sheriff office ( who is over the jail) and get their permission.

If they are in prison you will contact the chaplain for that prison and see if they allow it and if they do what is the procedure.

They will use a POA form to allow someone to get the marriage license for them.
