Hi all. Does anyone know how to replace the beater brush drive belt on a Dyson. I have a DC07 Animal (the purple one). If you look at it from underneath with the sole plate removed the belt goes round the beater bar and disappears upwards behind a plastic housing. I assume this must be removed but not sure.

A few instructions I have found to do this say you loop the belt around the beater and the spindle from the motor with no mention of the plastic housing that hides the whole lot. The housing I'm referring to is just behind the clear plastic flexible hose from the dust pickup head to the rest of the machine.

Any suggestions anyone?

Hi,

Use this link, DYSON DC07 Technical Advice › Dyson Technical Advice › Dyson Section › Help and Support – SpareSaver.com (http://www.sparesaver.com/help-and-support/dyson-section/dyson-technical-advice-450/dyson-dc07-technical-advice-459/) it will show you how to take off the motor drive belt, from there it is only a few more steps. Click on changing the clutch to motor belt. Remove the cover and wheel, take out the cog and push up on the spindle to take pressure off the top locking washer. Remove washer and the lower unit will come out. Be careful as it has 3 ball bearings between the units. At that point all you have to do is push on the white roller, the one with the belt on it, and it will come out.

Good Luck!

This is a link to an awesome video on YouTube...
YouTube - Replace Dyson Clutch DC04 DC07 DC14 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_CtaFcc5HU)

A total step by step guide to fix it...

I got the entire clutch with both belts for around $35 on eBay...
It's a lot of work to get in there to change the belts.
I also got the belt lifter for around $15...

All fixed in about 10 minutes for around $50 :)
