I have a 2 1/2 yr old great dane. I got her when she was 12 weeks old. From day one she was extremely shy and now has become aggressive. I have spent several thousand dollars on aggression training. It is not working. She lunges at people when I walk her (mostly children). I have a 10 yr old daughter and my dog is aggressive towards her. Most recently I had to have her sedated because she had an ear infection and all though she was muzzled she still tried to attack the vet and the assistant. I am not getting any advice from my vet and am terrified to find a new one. I always thought that any dog that acted like her was abused, and not taken care of, but I have had dogs all my life and have a 13 year old pit bull - lab mix and he is the nicest dog I have ever met. I have never hit or mistreated her. Should I have her put down or does anyone have any other suggestions. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Well you can do the following sell her to a person who need a guard dog and not scaredto displine her such as show no fear. The dog may sense fear and want to prove to be dominant or tertiroal she might think she ain't notice enough or she feels you being harmed or the other people taking her from you so basically get her out more with people put a muzzle on her and let people rub her and you still pay attention and you talk to people and pay attention to the dog and they will lose there little fear they might have

Have you worked with a behaviorist? If so, what did they say was the source of the aggression, and what did they recommend to treat it?

Woah.. aggression doesn't really deserve putting down.. some badly bred dogs do have temperamental problems..

As someone already said, you could give her away to someone who needs a dog guard and is dominant enough to discipline her..
