I have SEVERE hyperpigmentation from a tca peel I done last summer

Jan of this year I started using hydroquioine as I tried everything else and nothing worked but the hydro I use the oabag serum... I was reading about the kilgmans forumla 5% hydro amongst other things including retin a and a steroid

As I have reached a plateau in my skin lightening I want to up the dosage to a 5% I read that severe pigmentation with a higher increase can be gone in 4 weeks

I know where to get the hydroquinoine powder but wanted to know if anyone has had any success with adding the powder into serums etc or if anyone has used a higher %

I used 4% by prescription, compounded by my Pharmacist, to fade a deep red scar - it was very irritating but worked in a very short period. Mine also contained a sunscreen - spf 40.

The area I'm treating is on my body away from the sun some I'm not worried about that... and I'm in the uk we don't have compounding chemist here and we don't hae much sun either lol!

I tried to get in touch with some chemist but they can't do anything overseas

Come on I can't believe on a site where people are using monobenzone there isn't anyone out there who knows how to compound a higher percent of Hydroquinone (sigh)

OK... I've been lurking on this site a couple weeks now... seeing your post finally convinced me to sign up and contribute...

My skin is highly prone to hyperpigmentation... it can be from a mosquito bite, a tiny cut that heals, a scrape, a burn, acne, WHATEVER... it all seems to leave me w/ dark spots...

I had moderate acne on my back, but I finally found the right routine and it's completely clear of acne now... however, every time I got acne on my back, regardless of how tiny or large the spot was, it left a dark mark behind that would take months to clear... combine that w/ always having at least a couple spots at a time, and it results in having a back full of dark spots...

I'm also tend to have the same problem with my face, but I find that hyperpigmentation there fades much more quickly...

I went to a dermatologist a couple of weeks ago and she had a cream compounded for me w/ 10% hydroquinone, 2.5% kojic acid, and cortisone cream...

LOL I know that sounds crazy dangerous right? I searched ALL OVER the internet... I'm talking hours and hours at a time for days... and I COULD NOT find anything about so strong of a mixture... most people see to freak out about 4% hydroquinone, and the truth is I had been using that every day for 2 months prior to getting the cream I have now...

I've been applying the 10% hydroquinone mixture twice a day (morning and before bed)... in the morning when I know I'll be walking all over campus to classes, I use 70 SPF for my face and 85 SPF for my back... my derm also prescribed me desonide lotion to help w/ irritation... sometimes I skip applying the cream once a day if my skin seems to be a bit irritated at the time... but that usually only happens maybe once or twice a week...

I've been using it like this for about 3 weeks now... it's definitely made some huge improvements... it's not an instant miracle cream though... those marks aren't COMPLETELY GONE, but they are faint enough to say (as an educated guess) that I think I will be able to completely get rid of these dark spots in about 6 weeks time... they seem to be at a point now where you can't tell that it's there if I have makeup on...

I'm using a new acne prescription right now and it causes an initial breakout, so it's kind of hard to tell because I've gotten a couple new spots, but I can definitely say that the spots I started with have improved about 60% in these first three weeks... my overall skin color has lightened a good bit and my skin is so radiant!

Who prepares compounds in the UK? Pharmacists do it "here" all the time - wondered who would compound, for example, any kind of skin cream in the UK.

The sun block in my compound is because any light - not necessarily strong daylight - can lessen the effects of the compound.

Thank you tray-your expereince with pigmentation sounds like mine in terms of any little cut leaving a mark... so annoying!

I found one site that says they say the kligmans blend I asked them if it's the 5% I know a lot of these site are so shady so I will have to see

I really don't know who to go to in the uk to compound things we just don't do it over here which again is so annoying!

I will just have to start making my own stuff

Yeah I know about the 4% I already use a obagi formula 4% but as I can't find what I'm looking for I'm going to compound my own I know where to buy what I want anyway and the site is reputable

Hii everyone

Nikki and trey your experience sounds like my life story, I have had the same expereince I am currently on accutaane because I am so fed up of my acne and no my derm would not prescribe the accutane for me she said that my acne was not sevear enough, believe me I HIGHLY disagreed with her.
Anyhow I tried HQ for a few months with fantastic results I got a cream that they smuggled into Canada from west africa and they contain anywhere from 10-20% HQ. But I wanted a permanent fix, so now I am using MONO so far so good, I got a high yellow color on my face after 2 weeks of using mono then my face began to repig aggresivly, ohh I could have cried but now I am clearing or should I say lightening up nicely. My chest and neck are high yello and I am waiting for the rest of my body to catch up.

Myy motivation for lightening and evening out my skin tone is because I plan on getting married within the next year and my back is filled WITH BLACK MARKS AND SPOTS FROM pimples, scratches, bug bites you name it they leave a mark on my skin. Anyhow I want a wedding dress with an open back its been my dream and I can't let my problematic skin get in the way.

But on a brighter side since taking the accutaane I have had about 4-5 pimples in the last3 months of treatment.

So now I am cleaning up the damage my acne left.

oh man... I feel for you I really do! I hope everything goes perfectly and you feel/look just as beautiful as you hope to on your wedding day!

I had problems with acne on my back, shoulders, and chest too which left a TON of hyperpigmentation... it's been clear for over 2 months now, and I am using the 10% hydroquinone, but it takes time... trying to be patient, but I'm getting there! =)

No prob, lighterr ;)

Has anyone experienced any dermatitis from using hydroquinone? I was srsly peeling on my back near my armpits... I kept trying to moisturize it w/ lotion, but that wasn't helping it at all... I then tried aloe vera and that helped SO MUCH... I'm glad I solved that problem fast because if it were to keep peeling, it would start scabbing and would have caused MORE hyperpigmentation...

I'm just wondering if anyone had this problem and to what degree... and if it was a recurring problem, or just a temporary fling.

The dreaded spotted back I have that as well I have brought a jessner peel so I'm going to do that to see how that works on my back to get rid of the dark marks

I have the same type of skin that any little mark I get on my skin is there on my skin months after!
So annoying I now use md forte glycolic it has 20% glycolic in it and it's the best I have found it really helps smooth out those marks

You can get a hydrocortisone cream 1% that should calm the area down a lot

Jessner peel is a meduim depth peel for hyperpigmentation sun damage etc I use glycolic but really wanted to try this one as I haven't used it before

There are a couple good places
makeupartistchoice.com (http://www.makeupartistchoice.com)
The Original Skin Store (http://www.theoriginalskinstore.com/)
Jessner's Solution Chemical peel-Perfect Peel Solutions (http://www.perfectpeelsolutions.com/gallery5.htm)

The last two I mentioned have eBay accounts as well

OMG, I am getting on accutane too, like this week. I had to get B.c. b/cuz I guess it has bad birth defects if one gets pregnant. Is accutane like a pill or treatment. I need it because my oily skin is spitting out pimples and I am tired of this . I was wondering could you tell me where that 10-20% hq came from and how I can get it? My aunt wants some and I told her I could probably find some for her. THanks lighterrr!

lighterrr
Jul 29, 2008, 03:27 PM
Hey red,

Yeah the accutane is great because I have very oily pimple prone skin, and now I am on the accutane I haven't had as much pimples actually 3 in the last couple months only side effect is that my lips are always dry and I am continuosly putting on lip balm..

OK onto the cream you can get it at any african american hair store, or I can try to get some out to you the are faily cheap less than 30.00 because you would have to buy the cream itself and the serum its like an oil, that goes with the cream.. anyhow here are the brand names clear liss or fair and white Google it and see what turns up.

nikki1000
Jul 29, 2008, 08:09 PM
I'm tempted to try the clair liss... HQ is the only thing that worked for me on my hyperpigmentation and that as at 4% its faded but no where near enough I'm wating on my HQ crystals now to top up my obagi and make into a higher percent

I was reading on the Dr thienna site that it doesn't work on normal skin cells only hyperpigmented I have darker inner thighs that I want to get rid of so I hope the HQ will get rid of it

I'm not worried about the re-darkening as those areas are not going to be exposed to the sun

lighterrr have you tried the oil before from clair-liss?

RedDiamond
Jul 29, 2008, 09:01 PM
I am temped to try clair cliss too on my stomach. I have used hq before and its all right. Only the 4% or higher works on my though. I used tri luma and it lightened me up into a light yellow color also but didn't last long because it was in a small tube. I don't think I will go that route because hq darken my skin as soon as I go outside, even with sunscreen and all. So no, Ill stick to my mono. Imight buy some for my auntie she wants some mono but she's already light skinned. SHe seen how my skin is reacting and she like your skin color is pretty.

nikki1000
Jul 29, 2008, 09:09 PM
Yeah its best to stick to HQ on the small areas of the body if you are able to cover that area up I'm in london so its hardly the tropics lol!

RedDiamond
Jul 29, 2008, 09:32 PM
LOL I understand, lighterrr, huh, what do you think? Where I live its so hott it feel like a jungle outside at its coolest in the summer time...

lighterrr
Jul 30, 2008, 03:43 AM
Hi guys,

Yeah I would suggest sticking with the mono, because the results last longer. Right now I am in west africa on business and believe me its hot all right, I stay out of the sun between the hours of 10-3 and I walk around with two different types of sunscreen a spay on and a lotion.

Last time I went to jamaica about 2 yeears ago, the sun burned me so bad I still had tan lines on my body up until I started to use the mono a few months ago and I am not trying to be funny I am serious, and that's one of the reasons that pushed me into using mono.

HQ I haven't thought about using it on my stomach but I think that s a good idea, but using HQ and mono at the same time, that's scarry.

Or maybe it should be used in moderation like using HQ 2 times weekly, I don't know it's a hard call to make!

Anyhow guys an update on my face its getting high yellow like me neck and chest, the rest of the body is still dark, ohhh but my elbows have bagan to peel:)

Keep me updated on your progress

Has anyone used the Extraderm Maxi-Peel Exfoliant its 4% HQ but its so cheap rather than my obagi I'm currently using I'm afraid of using a lot of these products I don't want to put mercury on my skin!

I think I will use that for my inner thighs knees and elbows

I hope RedDiamond and lighterrr after you have finished with your depig I get to see some pics :-)

Hey nikki

Pics no problem, what exactly is obagi, I have been hearing a lot about it, my sis is using mercury right now, I am tooo afraid to use it myself, but mercury doesn't work well on elbown, knees etc, mono works the best on these areas.

Hey nikki once you decide what your going to use let me know.

I'm using about to start makari on my face and neck I have pm'ed sent you the link

Obagi is a whole system but basically its used for pigmentation the formula comes in 4% HQ I never experienced any irratation using it so using the maxi-peel will be intresting

But I like the fact that maxi-peel comes in a solution so you can target the areas easier

lighterrr
Jul 31, 2008, 01:04 AM

You do need a higher percent of HQ if your pigmentation is really bad which is why I can't wait to get my crystals and add it to my 4%

At least this way I know what's in it as well and not the dreaded mercury

I did already post the name of where I got my HQ from on pg 4 I got it from...
It's a legit site they sell tons of actives if makari doesn't work for me I will start to make my own skin lightening cream!

You get so much in there packet so you only need a small amount to make the % I made it doesn't even make a dent on what's left

I received my package yesterday I mixed a 14-20% serum so I will see how that goes I have high hopes!

RedDiamond
Aug 3, 2008, 07:32 AM
So you made a 14-20% hq product? If so, Girl you going to be so yellow! I know hq works but you might want to watch you supply list because if you run out it will make u so much darker in a little bt of time.Ohhh, don't forget sunscreen.

I am not using HQ on my face only on my body where I have areas of pigmentation and also where I suffered at the hands of a dreaded tca peel!NIGHTMARE!

After I have cleared that all up if it works I will then move on to the inner thighs

The redarkening and ochronosis generally occurs when you are in the sun so as its on my body and I'm in the uk that won't be a issue lol!

I also use latex gloves when applying the solution and I use a hydrocortisone cream as well as retin-a gel

I won't use it for long I'm hoping to see results within a month

You know I will fill you both in good or bad lets lean towards the good lol!

lighterrr
Aug 5, 2008, 09:58 AM

nikki1000
Aug 5, 2008, 02:25 PM
Four days since I have been using my HQ solution and only once a day my pigmentation that was once BLACK is now 90% gone I kid you not

My skin is peeling and all the skin underneath is now 1 shade away from my natural skin tone I'm so happy I won't even need a month another week and it will be all gone

Say what you want about HQ but when it works it WORKS!

I can't wait to try this on my inner thighs I wonder if it will work the same there as well

YAY go nikki. I am glad that it is working for you. HOw the makari going ? Do you like it?

nikki1000
Aug 6, 2008, 03:10 AM
Thanks guys

There was a 10% l ascorbic in the obagi serum as well as the HQ and then I used my 1% retin-a as well

The makari... I normally use a glycolic peel and then I use a cream from remede that really suits my skin

However since using the peel and using makari my skin is so dry the night cream is just not a adequate cream for me it does nothing for me in terms of moisture

Even before I attempted the peel the second day of using the night cream I was wondering why my face is so dry I have to lavish it on the 100ml if it was a richer formula it would last me months but this I can see lasting me a month lol

I have yet to see any lightening I have seen patches on my neck where my skin is peeling and the skin ''looks'' lighter but nothing significant to mention

If I do expereince any lightening with makari I will have to get the caviar cream as this dryness on my skin will not do SMH

RedDiamond
Aug 6, 2008, 06:34 AM
I heard the caviar is extra oily so it might do your skin good since you have a dry type of skin. Plus, I think it's the more powerful out of the group of makari. You will be yellow in no time. LOL. I am glad that neck is looking lighter hopefully you will be all one color Like I want to be. But I guess I want my face a little lighter than my body.

nikki1000
Aug 6, 2008, 12:34 PM
I went and scrubbed my neck today I had way too much flaking going on there and to my shock I can see LIGHT patches

Its very uneven right now though and all patchy I cannot wait for it to all peel completely I can tell my neck is going to take a while

I will for sure get the caviar cream after I finish this as my skin is tight like I'm wearing a mask lol

As long as my face gets close to my chest I will be happy I cannot take the zebra uneveness anymore lol!

How is mono going for you red diamond are you seeing the progress you want
