If I receive social security disability and it is my only source of income, and puts me below the poverty level - can child support garnish for the $15,000 I owe in arrears? I just got them to modify to stop accruing monthly payments since I haven't worked in over a year, but once I get this money - will they take it?

Yes, social security disability benefits can be garnished. However, garnishment can only be carried out in a few specific scenarios. According to the social security administration, SSI benefits cannot be garnished, while social security disability benefits may only be garnished to enforce child and alimony obligations, pay federal tax and debts owed to the IRS, and pay debts owed to federal agencies.

Someone was giving the best care possible for the nurturing of your children. What better way to say, "Thank-You", than by repaying that person with what's do? And I bet your child /children will gain a deeper respect for you for it.

Yes. My stepdaughter gets 585 from my husband's ss and also an additional 345 from mine even though my order is 347 a month, they do not give me credit for the monies she gets in ss. I am expected to live on 350 a month.

You are delusional to think that child support goes towards enriching the children it is intended for. If so there would be accountability for how the money is spent. Child support is a fraud.
Taking money from some poor disabled person? Who really thinks that is moral? Further, how does ruining a father financially help a child.
People who support this are sick!
