I need to repair a 1 foot by 2 foot section of ceiling that is water damaged and moldy. I am not very handy so I need something as simple and detailed as possible.

Do you have the necessary tools : Putty knife , drywall hand saw , utility knife, drill or hammer (for sheet rock nails or screws) I prefer screws , skill saw for cutting braces ( I prefer a miter saw but a skill saw will work fine), straight edge, tape , joint tape , joint compound, safety glasses, and dust mask. If you have these tools or most of them check this link out. If you have anymore questions post back and we will talk you through it.
