I need to know how to translate this verbal expression into an equation when X represents the number.

The product of a number and -4 is -24

Hmm... It has to be either

x + (-4) = -24; x = -20

x (-4) = -24; x = 6

X (-4) = 6; x = -24

x + (-4) = -24; x = 20

It was the PRODUCT of a number. Therefore its -4x = -24
