I already am a life insurance agent. I am about to file for bankruptcy. Will this impact my appointments with the companyies I work with?

I think it will impact the companies you work for. They are your income, are they not. If you have an income from them, why are you claiming bankruptcy?

Yes, many companies require a good credit report, even having a lot of late pays can make you lose your appointments, and stop others from appointing you. Some companies do annual checks others do not.

But yes, it can cause them to cancell your contracts. Now they may not, but many will

While it is true that filing bankruptcy will be noted in some cases by appointing ins. Co's, there are mechanisms in place in every company that allow for letters of explanation and exception. You are hardly the first producer, worling as a commissioned salesperson to be in this dilemma. I have personally had several friends over the years be in dire financial straits from divorce, addiction or change in business climate that filed bankruptcy and have gone on to have prosperous careers. Don't let it get you down.
