All right. I have a 92 escort that I bought and when the engine was running at normal temperatures it would starting making a sound like a piece of paper in a fan when I pushed the accelerator. The sound does not happen until the engine is warm. Also when this happens I do not have any power and cannot increase speed. If I floor it the car will stop this noise and go normally. I changed the oil and oil filter out of speculation and then drove the car and it still did it. The next day I had to drive on the highway and when I tried to get the thing to make it up a hill it died without and noise. Now it will not start. It sounds a little bad when I try to start it meaning it doesn't seem to be getting full power. The belts are turning. Could anyone help me.

Do you have spark to the plugs ? I have a feeling that it might be your timing belt.

How can I check for this. The spark plugs are getting fire. I thought that because the timing belt looks brand new and maybe installed incorrectly. But then I wonder how I was able to drive it for nearly a month. The timing belt has not snapped and does move when I try and start it.
