Have a look here : R-410A – Why is it such an Interesting Refrigerant Fluid (http://www.eurocooling.com/articler410a.htm)

Only negative point on R-410A is the 5 x higher cost.

R-410 is not more expensive today but R-22 has really gone up in price. R-22 will be available for quite sometime in the future since recycling has come to play in the past few years.

I would be hard pressed to make a discission between the two. I have tested both styles of refrigerant taking all into consideration R-22 comes out on top for now. The new R-410 equipment works well but in my opinion not as well as R-22. I am not going into details since all of this evidence is at the university files from testing.

R-410 will be the refrigerant for the future since so much has been put into finding a alternative for R-22.

R-410's oil type just loves to attract moisture and runs at a higher pressure. If you choose R-410 make sure the company you choose to install your new equipment has been certified by the manufacturer for R-410 installs.

There is a difference especially on the service end.
