Hi, what I wanted to ask is does anyone actually think psychics are real? If so please leave me your opinion also if there are any psychics on this site feel free to change my opinion because I'm not quite sure about the wholw psychic thing. :D

No in general I don't believe they are real.

There are some people that are very intuitive. And there are some people who seem to see things the rest of us can't. Psychic ? Perhaps, to a point. I believe most are charlatans. I don't believe anyone can conjure a spirit either. When a spirit wants to make itself known, it will do so. Even calling the name of one who has passed I feel is wrong. Spirits may be very busy and not wish to be disturbed.

The more advanced we become, the greater the extent of the mysteries.

Psychics are people. People have certain gifts and abilities. Some psychics have learned to "tap" into their gifts. Others may have not. All people, in general, have intuitive abilities. Can you name one person, honestly, who has not had an experience where they perceived someone was going to call them and later on that person did? Or the mother who suddenly gets the feeling that her child is in danger and finds out a short time later that he was almost hit by a car. The list goes on and on and it is because what people perceive to be "psychic ability" is actually just extended human perception. Again, we all have it but some do not care to use it or to develop it further to the point that it can be used to help others or themselves. There is nothing spooky about such abilities, but sometimes those who use it can "dress up" the atmosphere to add more interest to their work for others to see. A psychic should be ethical in the work he or she does. That is very important in this work. All such abilities should always be used to HELP mankind and should never be used to hurt another as the Law of Cause and Effect will catch up with them and return it to them tenfold. Rule of thumb is to always help others with compassion, kindness, and Love as you would like them to help you.

I just want to be educated here and being that you are the expert in Christianity... what about the prophets in the Bible? What would be the difference? Correct me if I'm wrong, but God gives/gave people "gifts".

As skygem said everybody has some intuition and some psychic to some degree but the other extreme are the real psychics that can be and often are into occult type practices the Bible warns against. There is a fine line somewhere in between.

I think part of the difference is that God says that we are to look to him for our future not fortunetelling
A psychic tells individual futures whereas a prophet speaks by divine inspiration
and is gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression.

The devil has a counterfeit for everything God has
Not saying psychic is always evil but there is a fine line.

Hi everyone thanks for your opinions I appreciate it very much, I agree with skygem a lot because I believe everyone has the ability to predict things that may or may not come true also known as "gut feeling" or "six sense" but I don't think psychics are gifted or anything I just believe that they can predict things like other people, also some people are better and doing this than others so we assume there psychic.

Thanks for clarifying the difference for me. That does make a lot of sense.

The word psychic is loosely used meaning different things. If you ask about a psychic predicting the future, that is charlatanism or entertainment. If used as entertainment then I have no problem with it but people who deceive others pretending to read their future are no better than thieves.

As for psychic as in reading people's mind is also a scam. There has been no one out there who has proven with validity that they have psychic powers. I have read a lot about this topic and lot about psychology. I even know some tricks that will truly make you believe I'm a psychic if you're gullible and if I insist saying I'm a psychic. I won't go much into detail about it but if interested here are few interesting things you can search which will give you a very good idea of not to fall into psychics:

1. james randi: he's been debunking people claiming supernatural powers for over 20 years and even has an offer standing of $$$$ for anyone who can prove any supernatural power.

2. ian rowland: a very interesting character who openly claims he's not a psychic but has all psychic power but that of course is a skill. He teaches his skills in his book which is on sale on his official website.

3. derren brown: although he's partly a magician, he uses many psychological tricks that will baffle you. His techniques vary from language patterning to reading people's mind and past. YouTube has many of his videos.

I believe sometimes the word "psychic" is abused by a lot of people that are in it for the money. I agree with SkyGem about the intuitive capabilities that we can all develop if we choose to. Although, I also think that there are some people that are much more gifted than others.

There are the people that are labeled as "pyschics", that solve seemingly unsolveable crimes, and others that can pick up on signs of things that are about to happen. It has been proven that twins have a 'psychic' ability to feel pain if the other gets hurt, or is in harms way. So, I definitely believe there are people that have abilities to see things that not all of us can see, and they have been given this gift for a reason.

It makes me angry though, when scam artists use this as a money making scheme to fool innocent people into giving up their hard earned money to hear a bunch of lies, that are most often seen by the naked eye. They see someone coming that looks sad. Well the first thing they say is, you look very sad to me. You have been sad for sometime now! I believe it's a bad relationship that you've had... and so on. Those are the ones that really annoy me, because they are preying on people's pain, to make money.

I do think psychics, or intuitives are real, and have worked on, and honed in on their God given abilities, but for the most part, they are a bunch of phoney's trying to make a buck off an unsuspecting person.
