I am trying to find the title of an old movie that I watch several years ago. It is about a man who lost his wife to some illness. They had about 4-6 kids. The man made every effort to keep the family together but the social services took the children away on flimsy excuse. The children ended up in different homes and institutions. One of the boys ended up in a mental institution were he was or almost castrated. After several years, the father was finally able to locate the kids and reunite the family. This is the best of my recollection. The settings may be between the 30s to the 60s.
