I have a "Tempstar High Efficiency 5000" outdoor air conditioner with a tower in the attic, this is a 1993 model that has had a number of service issues. I am planning on replacing the unit

Question 1:

How many Tons is this unit I can not tell by reading info on the back? I have tried to look up on the internet but have not been able to find info.

Question 2:

Do I need to replace the unit in the attic also? I believe this is just a coil (+)another fan, it is also the gas heating unit? Can I first replace the outdoor unit. Service indicates the problem is just on the outside unit.

To tell you what tonnage you have we need to have the model #. The coil in the air handler will need to match the condensing unit as far as size.
