Hi! This question is for people who knows about animals, because I really don't.

My boyfriend has a black lab and pitbull, both are really sweet and he rescue them from an animal shelter over 4 years ago. The dogs don't bother anyone and he more afraid of you then you of them.

Lately, since I became pregnant when I go around them the pitbull has been acting a little aggressive, by barking and it seems at time its going attack me. The pitbull have a vet visit in a week and I am curious to know if this behavior might be due to me being pregnant and she don't like it? If you can help me out with this until the vet visit it will help a lot.

By the way, the black lab is male and pitbull is female.

Yes, it is possible. My mother had a similar situation when she was pregnant with me, and the boxer tried everything in his power to knock her over and attempted at nipping her in the stomach. It's normal behaviour, but you should be careful and perhaps invest in a gate or separate the dog from you until the baby's born. Once the child's born, he should resume to his sweet nature, and be overly protective of the child.

I have never heard do this but I have heard of them being overly protective of the pregnant person.
Hopefully these dogs are spayed/neutered. If not maybe they are more sensitive of your hormonal changes. After all dogs have an amazing sense of smell , they can be trained to detect, bombs, drugs, even cancer just to name a few.

Both dogs are neutered and it only the female dogs that's acting this way, the male dog is not acting out and is clinging more to me than anything.

Thank you alwayswriting, I spoke to my last night and she told me of a similar situation with her sister in dog. Meanwhile I'll stay away from the pitbull.
