Can I refinance a car my father cosigned for me and put it in my name before filing chapter 7 and then include it when I file?

Not without being charged with fraud. If you are that close to bankruptcy, what makes you think you can get a loan on your own?

How did he get his name removed as the co-signer?
I'd be willing to bet that both of you are still on the loan for this vehicle.

I think you misunderstood. He wants to get his father's name off BEFORE he files bankruptcy. He seems to know that if he declares they will go after his father as co-signer.

This is why they get a co signer, so they can get paid, if you file bankruptcy, they can still come after him for the money. You need to set down with your dad and figure out how to pay for the car. If you have to file bankrutpcy on all of the other debts, you would keep the car and pay for it

Just curious: What do you intend to do with the car?

Yup, the judge ain't going to buy that when you file, but maybe if... I better shut up, I don't like banks but I'm not going to advise somebody in public how to commit fraud legaly, they have the exclusive for that.
