I am planning to purchase a house that I like but I found in the dislocure list that the house had a termite when the current owner puchased it in 1999 and the treatment was applied then. I am concerned that if there was a termite before even it was treated it may come back. Would do you advice? Should I worry or I go ahead with the purchase.
PLease get back to me soon.
Thanks,Nagy

Typically termite treatments come with a guarantee. Check the treatment paperwork carefully to confirm that it came with one.

Following the answer from Rick about purchasing the house that had a termite before. Do you think it is a good idea to risk and to go ahead in the purhase

Almost all houses have had some termite at some point, that is why you get treatment on a regular basis, and inspections, You should have a current inspection done to see if there is any damage at this point, But you always have to keep treatments current for any and all homes

Fr_Chuck & smearcase are right about checking for any damage from the infestation. RickJ is right about the paperwork. There isn't a pesticide used today that guarantees to rid a property of termites unless they've come up with something new in the past 8 yrs), but they can adequately protect it in ap 5-yr stretches. (The reason is that they all kill the workers before the toxins can be carried back to the nest/queen.) So check the guarantee from the pest control company carefully.
