to balance equations, separate each element
Al
H
Cl
then assign a letter (A, B, C, D) for each compound found in the equation above, and make an equation.
for Al: 1A = 1C
for H: 1B = 2D
for Cl: 1B = 3C
assume A = 1, and solve
A = 1
C = 1
B = 3
D = 3/2
now make them all whole
A = 2
C = 2
B = 6
D = 3
2Al + 6HCl = 2AlCl3 + 3H2
