My daughter is 2 years old. Her father moved to Florida the week after she was born. We live in NYC. He said he would support her but in two and half years he has given me three checks of support. I filed for child support in NYC and our case comes up in July. He now says he wants to send regularly support and will send me some back support if I drop the case. Do I drop the court case and trust he will do the right thing now or go forward with it and let the courts force him to send regular monthly support?

Well I would post some of the other great iies men tell, he does not want to have the threat of losing his drivers license or ending up in jail for not paying, if he intended on paying he would not care if there was a order in place or not,
He is lying, get your court order and make him pay,

If you strike an agreement with him and he doesn't comply you are going to have a difficult time refiling.
I'd say get the Order. All it is is an order that he pay support based on the law. If he doesn't pay, then you have some recourse as opposed to making an agreement with him, he doesn't pay, then what do you do?

Both previous answers are correct, obtain the order.
He already told you he would pay, and didn't, this will help keep him honest.

Get the order. I have was continuously told the same story, and girlfriend, it was a lie and he only paid, sporadically, after I threatened to file for support.
I have filed as of yesterday, and I am not going to drop it.

Trust him? Let the court handle this.
