Maybe someone can tell me how to deal with this.

I have a huge sofa and every few months I move it to sweep underneath
And I find piles upon piles of very fine sawdust.

I found a few small black bugs (not bed bugs)
They looked like tiny oval beetles.
When I was looking into this sawdust today I found a maggoty looking thing with a tail that was as thin as a hair (yuk!)
We don't get bit by anything, and what ever it is, it doesn't surface to our "living space" but id like to know what these things are and how can I get them out. Its so gross, and I hate to say it but I'm a little ocd when it comes to cleaning.
I'm guessing I will just have to toss the sofa out, but I'll see what happens here.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like powder post beetles or something similar. They bore into wood - usu old, dry wood - & lay eggs. There are sev types beetles like this. I thought I had a link for you but can't find it. I'll look and post in a bit if I can locate it...

I found the site. If you check it out, notice there are a number of species of powderpost beetle, so you might want to check all the links listed.

At any rate, it's this type of pest that's in your couch. Treatment will probably be dificult (or at least tedious and time-consuming).
