My boyfriend is so hard headed. He never listens to me if I told him not to shower after a massage. I usually give him a full body massage and he showers after . He told me that in the hotel where he had professional massage he was allowed to shower. When I ask a massage therapist from a salon, she answered me that they advice customer to shower at least after 6 hours or the next day. So I am confused which one really is true? Is it safe to shower after a massage or not?

The only reason you aren't suppose to shower after a massage is it washes off or dilutes the oils/lotions from the massage.

An hour or hour and a half is recommended as far as I know after a massage, but not a cold shower but a warm shower or bath is actually good for the body.

It would be best to rest for at least for 2 hours or so then you can take a warm shower.

My grandma, my mother and my aunt told me this as well. That it's bad for you to shower right after you've been massaged because your muscles will tend to hurt more after showering. I have fibromyalgia and this is what they've told me, not sure if it's true though.

A bath after a massage is good provided it is a warm bath. It helps to relax the muscles by promoting blood flow. Second, it removes the applied oil/lotion with which I am not comfortable sleeping. Last, a bath is simply refreshing.
