 My maytag dryer is making a horrible loud noise. It sounds like it is coming from the back of the dryer. It sounds like tennis shoes are rolling around in there or something like that while the dryer is on. When the dryer turns off, it still makes that sound for a couple of seconds and then stops. What can this be????? Please help!!!!! Thank you :)

Well, as nobody here on this board has the gift of telling fortunes, it is imperative to have a quick look yourself first : remove the rear panel, and have a check what is going on.
Check the drive belt : is it frayed?
Is the drum hitting (against) something?
Is the sound coming from the drum or from the motor?
Does anything look lose or broken?
Does the sound stop when the drum stops rotating? (You seem to suggest it takes a couple of seconds more)

Please be careful : do not touch anything while the dryer is connected to the power.

If you can not find anything, remove the power : put the power cable out of the socket and on to the ground in front of you.
Note down how the belt is connecting the drum and motor.
Remove the belt (by taking away the tension from the belt this is easy).
Spin the (empty) drum a couple of times by hand, as fast as possible. Do you hear the noise again?
If not : spin the motor a couple of times : do you hear the noise now?

This procedure will allow you to research what is the problem in your machine.
Note : if the noise is produced by the drum, the bearing is gone, and it is time to go to the shop and buy a new dryer.
Of course you can also come back to the board and discuss your findings!

Success !

He took it apart and saw the (I think it is called) blower fan was broken. So we are going to replace it tomorrow and see what happens.
