The door on my Maytag Neptune Washing Machine (model #MAH8700AWW) is locked and will not release. I cannot find any sort of manual unlocking device or system. Help please, all my favorite clothes are trapped inside!

I found the mystery unlock lever! After removing the top, the console and the front panel, I was able to access the door switch. At the very bottom of the switch, there is a ring shaped lever which pulls straight down. This disengaged the door lock. I didn't find any obvious defect, but I will most likely replace the switch. Suspiciously, the service manuals do not mention this means of opening door, and do not even give you a clue about accessing the switch, instead they recommend a service call. Which would have cost me some bucks!

It took me about 30 minutes and a phillips screw driver to fix it.

Wow you the first one that got it right I have look all over the internet and you have the answer... mine says and so it's the pump maybe but my clothes was still in the washer so...

I didn't pull the front panel I just slid my arm from the top and push down the rod/arm or whtever its call

I got the top and the console off; however, the front panel is a little difficult. I have removed the four screws at the top of the front cover but the front cover still won't come off. What do I do now?
