I just bought the Honeywell RTH230B to replace my old Tempstar T874 thermostat. I have 6 wires connected to the old one labeled R Y W G B O. The new one only has up to a 5 wire connection. My furnace and air conditioner are both electric. I found the wiring diagram to the old one, but I don't know where the old one goes. Here is the layout for the old one.
B- Heating Damper Motor; Changeover valve
W- Stage 1 heating control
G- Fan relay coil
R- Power connection to transformer
O- Cooling Damper Motor; Changeover valve
Y- Stage 1 Cooling Control

The new one
RH
RC
Y
W
G

Any help would be great, thanks.

The thermostat you have will not work for a 2 stage heat pump system.

It does not have a change over provision.

Any suggestions on a programmable thermostat that would work?

Any 8000 series Honeywell. OR a good quality thermostat that will have a two stage heat set up.
