I just moved into this condo so I don't know what I have that works or needs maintenance.

My Tempstar 5000 AC had a nasty filter. I had to make a custom one to fit and when I pulled the old one out, I felt some water with my fingers. I don't think the AC was used for a long time. There was also a brown stain on one of the panels.

I replaced the filter, I have been using it and the next morning I noticed it makes an occasional gurgling sound. It does seem to work but is there something wrong? Thanks for any advice.

Could be a partially restricted drain.
It could be the A/C refrigerant line noise and that is somewhat normal.

If it is a partially restricted drain, is it something I can check? (or does it need service?). Thanks so much for the fast reply. Lots to learn in this condo.

If you do not know when the last time the unit was serviced I would get it serviced now before the hot weather.

Oh too late for that (that is the HOT weather - it's 105 outside here in the Valley in LA). I don't know what has/hasn't been done to this place. It's a foreclosed condo so I'm trying to tackle things one at a time. So you think it needs servicing? Nuts.

Do you think I should contact the manufacturer for a manual or something?

But thanks again for the advice. I guess I'll start looking for companies that do this. It shouldn't be too expensive should it?

You can try to blow back through the drain line and see if that helps. Since you have no idea when the unit was serviced it might be best to have it looked at. Costs differ in various areas of the country.
