The difference is you report in person every month if it is reporting probation. I would suggest you get this part clarified as soon as possible because if you are on a reporting basis and don't show up you have violated the terms of your probation. Check with your attorney or call the Clerk's office and ask that your sentencing order be read to you over the phone. You should have received a copy of the sentencing order as well and you can read that.

Hello filthy:
How could you miss that part?? It's even written down for you on your court papers... I don't know, dude. Maybe that's why the jails are full.

I was a probation officer for 7 years and I would look and the probation order real quick and see what it says. All that should have been explained to you. In my state a person who is placed on probation is given reporting instructions along with a copy of the probation order right in the courtroom and is usually required to have their first visit on the same day they were placed on probation. I had some probationers who were required to report twice a week and with that schedule they could rack up no-shows real quick and end up with a warrant hanging over their heads. It wouldn't hurt to call the nearest probation office, either.
