I am the executor of my uncles estate. His wife wanted nothing to do with his cremation, she didn't want his wedding ring or the remains. He named me as sole heir in his will but by Nh law the spouse gets things like vehicles and real estate.
My question is will I get reimbursed for the money that I paid for the cremation? I realise I will get legal fees back but I am wondering if I will get anything back for the money that I spent on the cremation.

Thank you.

1. You don't use you own money for his funeral costs, that money should be paid by the estate. So basically some items in the estate will have to be sold if there is no money to pay for this.

Spouse may not get all of the real estate and vehicles, a will not including them may not be upheld in whole, but then the wife does not always get everything, unless they were deeded or titled that way.

You need or really needed a probate attorney to help handle the estate issues.

I had a lawyer until he changed law firms. Although I have paid him a lot of money he is unresponsive to my question. I have one assett left to sell and then I need to file the final account. I was hoping that I would get the money back from the cremation and from what you are saying it should work that way. In New Hampshire the spouse gets all of that stuff plus she got a 50 thousand dollar insurance check. Thanks for responding to my question.
