Hey there, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. OK I have a Hunter Programmable Thermostat Model #44360. When I hook it up the fan works, it kicks on when it should at the right temp, however it's blowing hot. The color wires that are hooked up with my old thermostat are: White, Blue, Green, Red, Black, Yellow, and Orange. The terminals are W, B, G, R, X, H, Y, O, T. The terminals on my new thermostat are: RH, RC, G, Y/O, W/B, Y1. My AC unit is an AmeriStar, I couldn't find the model number. Here's how the old thermostat is hooked up:

This is how I have the wires currently hooked up to my new thermostat:

Additionally I have a jumper wire from RC to RH on the new thermostat. This has yielded nothing. A buddy said to double up the White wire and the Orange wire on the W/B terminal, but again nothing. I don't want to start just guessing, so if anyone has and idea of how to hook it up without frying my AC unit. Thanks!

Is this a furnace-A/C or a heat pump? The way you have things hooked up should work for a conventional system, but it doesn't sound like the thermostat is set up for switching modes for a heat pump. Likely you could still make it work with a heat pump by adding an auxiliary switch or relay. To do so, you would need to know when the orange and black wires needed to be hot. The blue wire is the common, and some thermostats do not need it.

I'm sorry I'm relativley green at this. I don't know what you mean by furnace AC and heat pump. I live in FL all I know is I need cold air. It's a unit for a town house, so I'm not out in the sticks. Heat pump to me would imply that. How would I tell the difference?

A furnace usually burns natural gas or oil, although they can use electrical resistance heating. If the compressor outside runs when your are using heat, it is a heat pump. Good choice for areas that need little heat.

Yeah it's pretty nice down here I can't complain about the palm trees :cool: But when the heat runs yeah I do hear the compressor come on. That's I think what's not kicking in now.

Sorry I missed you last post. Been busy lately and today's posts hasn't been working like it used to. Take a look at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/showthread.php?t=23152 I think as I looked through the instructions, it said the orange wire must be hot in cooling mode. If so, connecting the orange and yellow to the Y/O terminal should give you cooling.
