I have a 94 Ford Escort the speedo does not work everything else works. Need ideas to help me fix it its for a 18year old girl NEW driver. Could it be a fuse or a what. Thanks Mike

That car has a cable-driven speedometer.
My guess is that the cable is worn and then broke an end off.
Replacing those isn't real hard but it's not real easy either.
The cable runs from the back of the speedo display, through the firewall and then to the transmission.
Approximately $60 or so for the cable and expect a shop to charge an hour to replace.
They can also check the speedometer to make certain that it works, too. Call around for estimates.
