I am in Texas from June 10 through christmas sometime. I am from Florida. I am a mother of two kids and they are with me. I came here for my sisters wedding and my husband okayed this. I am finding a job to help make ends meet while I am here. But now my husband refusses to send any money to me. He also says that I have to buy my own plane ticket to get home. I am not sure that we are going to stay married. One of the other reasons that I came to Texas was to get away from him for awhile. My husband is a controlling person. He is also emotionally and verbally abusive to me.
My question is while I am here in Texas can I apply for any assistance that will not effect child support? He has told me that if ask for it he will quit his job. I don't want him to get angery and go to the state of Florida and say I "took" the kids. I don't put that past him.

I think I would get a job and a place and conveniently tell him in Dec. that I will not be returning because I am not able to afford the ticket.
You can apply for assistance but the amount you get will be based on the amount of child support you receive.
They should give the lesser with the benefit rather than the support because the parent is responsible and the state/federal is more supplemental support to add to the support.

Check with Salvation Army and Catholic Charities organization they can give you lists of places that help low income.

Texas and Florida both do not recognize separation.
So, do I have to file for Divorice to receive child support?

I would think you would since they do not recognize separation.
