Hi ALL

My Imation USB 2.0 Flash Drive used to work on my PC but now it does not. It works on other PC's and my laptop but not on my home PC. When I plug it in the message "USB device Not Recognised" appears with the message One of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it.

I have also noticed that the PC does not recognise other memory sticks and my external hard drive when it did previously however these devices work on my laptop. When I plug a printer into the USB port it works. My impression is that there is some sort of driver issue perhaps related to removing a usb device while the PC was still writing to it.

Your help would be appreciated

Cheers

Maurieo

What version of Windows? You apparently blew out your USB drivers. Try using a system Restore back to when they worked.

Hi,
If you have XP, here is something that might help; doing an XP repair:

Best of luck, and if it doesn't work, please post back.

Hi ALL
I tried a repair and that did not work so I did a total reinstall and that did not work either. I found I was able to disable the USB2 hub and a message would come up each time I attached a flash stick that I was using a USB 2 device on a low speed hub however I was able to use my flash stick and external hard drive at a reduced speed. Today the computer updated by adding service pack 2 after the reinstallation of XP and now I am unable to use anything at all. The unrecognised USB device call comes up and when I uninstal the USB 2 hub nothing comes up. I cannot work out how to uninstall the USB 2 hub so it operates at a lessor speed and reads my USNB mass storage devices

Cheers
