My older computer is not doing something right... one of my computers' motherboard got fried about a year ago and so I put the stuff like cd rom and hard drive and my graphics card(so I could have a screen) on it and now when it boots up it says that it is bypassing my boot files and gives me the option of normal, logged, safe mode, and step by step confirmation, but yet it does nothing after it but shows the background wall paper. Is there a way I can boot from a cd or something? It has windows me o/s on it but I have an xp upgrade disk I want to put on it.

What happens when you put the upgrade cd in and restart the computer

If you transfer a hard drive to a different computer, it may not work because of the different motherboard and drivers. Have you tried botting to Safe Mode? If that doesn't work, junk the PC.

BTW, you can't use the XP upgrade disk as long as it was used to upgrade another PC.
