Hello everyone. I have a judgement against me in the amount of $23,000.00. That was back in 2003. The judgement is now up to about $35,000.00 with interest. How long can they collect on this judgement in the state of New York, I was told after 5 years its no good.

When was the last payment (of any amount) you made?
The statute of limitations for New York is 6 years from the last time you sent them any money.

The question was not about SOL but the term of a judgement. They already got a judgement so SOL no longer applies. In NYS I believe a judgement lasts 10 years and can be renewed for at least another 10.

Yeah they can and will do that. I was getting confused with collections and judgment.

I'm surprised they haven't garnished your salary
