Does anybody have any advice, some idiot at work showed everyone my salary amount, it turns out I am earning more than someone and now he keep giving me a hard time acting like a real idiot and blaming me for things which were not my problem. Are there any laws I can look into as I am sick of all the nasty comments as he has now turned everyone against me , when I did not even do anything wrong except be employed at a salary amount discussed privately between the boss and myself.

I'd go to your HR department and see what they can do. Unfortunately, once the information is out there, it's hard to do anything about it.

1. You can lie and deny it and say you are making less.
2. you report this to HR, since I am sure they broke some company rules.
3. but to be honest I have almost always worked places where our income is public record, police officers, prisons, federal government, even most pastors, You are paid by scale, depending on location and so on.

Thanks guys, will will write again if anything changes. No HR department by the way.. it's a restaurant and the above mentioned idiot showed the people my actual pay slip... Stupid chic! I am going to ask the boss if he can give the guy warnings every time he says anything as I think its defamation of character... isn't it? Only problem the boss is a softie... :)

Hello r:

Nahhh, the guy's just being a jerk. You have no suit against him... If the softy boss won't discipline the stupid chic AND the jerk, there's nothing you can do.

If you're THAT good, why don't you threaten to leave if the boss doesn't DO something. If he doesn't, maybe he doesn't think you're that good.

Legally he broke no law. He may have violated company policy and he certainly violated good sense. How did he get a copy of your payslip?
