I have a "contractor" working on putting water into my barn. While he was digging to run the water line he broke the wires that run from my power pole. Also took out my cable so my power was surging in the house and fried a few things. He keeps acting like all is OK. Hmmm not so sure. He splices the main power wires with a splicing kit. I think the kit may have been to small as he cut a bunch of the fibers in the wire casing to make them fit. I am not sure of the size because as soon as he finished splicing them together he buried the cable. He told me I asked to many questions. I don't want to anger him as the job has been paid for. Are you supposed to cut inside wire fibers to make them fit in the splicers?

If you paid him, then who cares if he has an additude! Have him get back out there and dig that wire up--so you can see if he used the correct splicing kit. If he refuses, then ask for an immediate refund, so you can pay a competent professional to do the job correctly!

What size service do you have?

NEVER cut off some of the strands in a cable. That reduces the wire gauge and the current carrying capacity. This guy is NOT a competent electrician!
