We have a two story home and the kitchen is below the master shower/tub. There is no caulk between the hardware and tile wall in our shower. When we take a shower it starts leaking through the ceiling down to the kitchen. I'd like to know which of the following two products is best to use to caulk the gaps behind the shower hardware:

. GE Silicone II (100% Silicone Sealant), or

. DAP Kwik Seal Adhesive Caulk

Both products are for kitchen & bath.

We are not planning to paint either product.

Thank you.

The absolute best caulk is the GE Bioseal. Not evey place has this but that stuff is what the pros use. I use it myself and I do not have to reseal the area due to discoloration or mildew. I used the other two products you mentioned and I had to redo the caulking after 2 years due to discoloration.

Any clear silicone will do if you don't plan on painting. While water can get between the faucet escutcheon plates and the walls I doubt that there would be enough for you to see it below each time you shower. If leak occurs only when shower is used, not tub fill, the leak is more likely where the shower arm is screwed into the elbow in the wall.

I would not be so concerned with the brand as I would to make sure that it was SILICONE. The silicone is going to withstand, resist, and stop the water. Just use the silicone that you can readily locate.
