Are you sure that you have to give up your rights? Would temporary, or custodial/residential custody granted to your father be a possibility... similar to that of a divorced couple? Or is this a stipulation put forth from your father?

First of course you have to deal with the issue of what is the legal custody status of the child to start with, where is the other parent and what are there legal rights.

Also while keeping your rights, it is sometimes possible to give Power of Attorney to act on your behalf for the child.
And/or a court order giving temp custody.
Now of course you also have the legal issues of a visa for the child to live and go to school in Canada
Trip to the attorney will be your first stop

Who is telling you, that you have to give up your rights? You need to ask whoever is telling you that to cite the specific laws requiring it.

In my opinion, a relinquishment of rights would not be necessary or would it be granted. But a temporary guardianship should work.
