Hi everyone,
I have found out that my son and his friends have downloaded and visited porns sites on my computer. My son is eighteen and uses it for college homework so I don't want to lock him out. I have told him his allowance will be cut off if he doesn't stop. He and his friends are very computer smart where as I am not. I would like to know if there is software that I can install that will be undetectable that will show me keystrokes and web pages that they have visited. I pay my bills on this computer and I am afraid that some type of virus will be downloaded and get my information. Does anyone know of a specific program that I can buy that will also e-mail me when this happens? I have searched for one but I am not sure if the page that I am about to buy something from is legit or not. Thanks for your time.

He is too old for such software, especially if he is fairly computer literate.

He most likely has the knowledge to discover any type of blocking software, and can probably get around what ever you put in place.

At 18, he can legally view porn, but, if you really want to put an end to this behavior, tell him that in your home, it is not allowed. Forget about the allowance (for an 18 year old?), tell him the next time you discover he has been to ANY porn site with your computer, he will be needing to find another place to live, and someone else to pay his way.

If he pops into a porn site, hand him his walking papers.

It's time he learns to be a man, if you continue to "pamper" him, he will never grow up.

You shouldn't be spying on him. I see nothing wrong in using monitoring software that announces its doing the monitoring. You have told him the rules and there should be no problem in using software that enforces those rules.

I would not waste time and money buying software when a swift kick in the butt and pulling te computer from him would work.

Spying on your son is a complex and probabl less than rewarding adventure. Even if you succeed he will just find another place to get his porn fix. But if you want to insure that your computer does not visit questionable sites, that have a high probabilty of containing virusus and spyware, enrole in one of the many parential control services. The will block your computer and any other computer on your internet connection from accessing any type of sites you deem undesirable. The cost of these service range from free (Open DNS) to several dollars a month. There are also programs that you can buy that run on you system. I recommend services, they are outside the control of you son (Keep the access codes complex and well hidden, preferabally in your head)

Keeping to clean sights is not a guaranteed method of protecting you system from malware. Make sure that you have a good virus protection sutie. Add to it spybot or ad-aware (Both free) to keep your system free of spyware.

Good luck with your quest for computer purity
