I may be in the wrong section, but here goes. I'm interested in seeking an individual government grant that would allow me to be able to teach women who are about to get off government assistance (welfare) how to dress for success in the workplace, how to write professional resumes, and develop an overall enhanced professional image. In addition, I'd like to be able to provide reduced cost business wear to these women who would not be able to afford business attire at conventional department store. Does anyone know where I should begin my search?

First you will need to have a company formed, and normally get it accepted as a non profit. At this point you will need a business plan, and need to get, normally from a professoinal grant writer, a proposal that will fit the guidelines for various government grants that may be available for assitance and training for people entering the work place.

Also you will want to check with coporate donors some of the larger business and also city and state funding.

I can't answer your question, but I do so love the idea of helping someone learn how to deal with the work world and be able to deal with getting off welfare. :-) It's a noble cause, and I think your grant is money put too much better use. I wish you luck.
