Had remodel done 1 year ago, caulk is pulling up in some areas around tub, am going to reseal, question is can I clean and add caulk over old stuff and if so what can I prep the surface with or do I have to remove all of the old ( quite a pain) first, then reseal. Am sealing shower tile to the top of the tub.

It is best to get all the old stuff off first, then reseal with all new material. The best tub caulk to use is the GE bioseal stuff. It comes in white and clear. It is about $5 a tube but well worth it. It does not discolor, shrink, or mildew. I tried using other stuff and I had to redo the caulk. This bioseal stuff lasts and lasts.

Hey all:
Soko... you want to remove all the caulking that you possibly can with a razor knife or a caulking removal tool (see pic... sold at all home supply stores)... then clean real well and then use an an isopropyl alcohol to make final clean as it disinfects and evaporates any excess water that may be hiding behind the old caulking.
Most important here will be to be sure all is super dry before applying the new caulking!
Then caulk away with the GE bioseal caulking that Twinkie mentioned... great stuff.
