If my hubby is correct, our central air also is "powered" by our furnace. For some reason, the air conditioning isn't working right. If you leave it on for more than an hour, it freezes up the lines going to the unit outside and only brings down the temp in the house by one degree! He cleaned it all out, and it still isn't working right. Would anyone happen to know what may be causing this problem? The heating part works just fine in the winter. ANY suggestions or advie is welcomed and appreciated! We cannot afford to call anyone from a professional place.
Thanks!

There are more expert members here than me, but my first inclination would be to have the freon level checked (by a professional).
If the condenser unit is freezing up, this can be caused by low freon.

Good luck,

Is the filter clean and installed in the proper direction. Are the evaportator (the coil in the inside unit) coils clean? You need to check them on the side that the return air come at. Are the condensing (outside) coils clean? Are bothe the inside and outdoor fan running? Feel the 2 coppere lines going into the outside unit. Is the larger one cool and sweaty and the smaller one hot?
