I have an old 2 gang box. Coming into the box is.. on one side... 3 black wires, 1 white and 1 green. Coming into the other side of the box is 1 black , 1 white and 1 green. On top of the box is/was another box with an outlet. There is a switch in the main box that seems to control the switch in the main box.

What would I have to do to make this operational again without burning down my house? Lol.

Thanks

Why the double post?

Your question makes no sense. Maybe this is why you have no replies.

Can you try to explain a little clearer what you have going on?

The backyard used to have a swimming pool. This seems to be electric that was run up there. Coming up out of the ground is 2 metal lines. They meet at a box that houses a switch and an outlet. Directly above that box was another box that had an outlet also.

Rsrcwhite,

Okay, you have a Double Gang box (metal | plastic). The left side has 3 Black Conductors. (What size?) 1 White (What size?) and 1 Green ground conductor. Where do these conductors come from?

The right side of the box has 1 Black, 1 White and 1 Green ground conductor. Where do these three conductors come from?

You have a box above the Gang box that contains and receptacle. Does anything connect the receptacle above the gang box to the gang box?

"There is a switch in the main box that seems to control the switch in the main box."

Please tell me what in the world you mean by this statement. Can you take a digital picture of everything you are trying to describe?

All I know is that it comes directly from the house... there doesn't seem to be anything in between. The other box that sat o top isn't there anymore... I disconnected it.

Good morning,

So this box is outside? Which set of wiring is coming from the house? If the wiring is sourced by the main panel inside the house, what is the amperage of the breaker that feeds the box?

What do you plan on doing with the box and wires?

Please, no one here has a degree in wizardry. We cannot see what we need to know through the internet. We need detailed descriptions on where the wires are coming from and where they are going. Without that the best suggestion we can give you is to call an electrician.
