Over the past few months in all areas of the house a noise like ringing in the ears can be heard. I cannot hear it when I am in the garden or away from the house. My house is low-set and only about 6-7 metres from power lines. I recently had the roof coated with a heat reflective paint (metal roof) and wonder if somehow this coating could be conducting power from power lines to make constant buzzing/ringing.

Dear nannysam

Re. the overhead powerlines : what type of power lines are that?
The type of lines that provides power to houses, or the type that provides power from town to town?

Thank you Credendovidus for your quick response. The power lines are just the ordinary suburban ones the supply power to houses along the street.:)

Cred asks a great question because the high tension lines from town to town do give off a heavy EMP which is audible. Local feeder lines are 440 or lower so they won't transit anything through the air. Do your visitor hear this noise and how do they describe it?

Thanks ballengerb1 - yes visitors hear it and some describe it as hissing sound or buzzing and others, like me, as ears ringing.

Does shutting down your entire electric panel cause the noise to stop? Do you have fluorescent light fixture with transformers?
