We have wood patio cover that is now a good home to termites. We are thinking of replaceing with aluminum that looks like wood. We were quoted $10,000. Does anyone have a patio cover made from this? How does it hold up? We live in a sunny climate.

Be sure that you have totally gotten rid of the naughty termites from your home as they can and will nest underground and come back and feast on your home. The company I work for now builds things like what you are describing for customer's homes that they sell. So far we have not had any complaints about them. I would think they would do quite well in a sunny climate as wood will warp and weather and age and get those pesky termites attacking it. I don't know about the price and would suggest that you shop around for a few estimates and also ask to look at pictures of some of their completed real projects that they have done for customers as well. Just looking at a page from a catalog is great, but a for real photo of Mrs. Jones' house with her patio cover would be better.
You might also want to look into the vinyl building materials. We also use them to build porches and have had good results with them as well. I think it would be a little less expensive than the aluminum due to the metals shortage now also.
