I've been in starvation mode 8-9months now and I;ve been working on getting out for 2months. In the beginning I was only eating 700-900 calories a day and exercising 2 hours a day. I've been trying to get out of starvation mode by eating 1200-1500 clories a day and exercising only 20-30 minutes. I don't feel as hungry as I used to but besides that nothing has changed. Whenever I eat something my stomach gets bigger. Does this mean my stomach is regulating and getting back to normal or does it mean I'm storing fat? What kinds of food ( protein, carbs, fat ) should I eat to get out of starvation mode? When should I eat and how many meals a day? How long should I exercise?

Don't worry so much about how many calories your eating, right now, Just eat at least 3 healthy meals a day, eat till you feel full. Make sure your starting the day off with a wholesome breakfast like whole grain cereal, fruits, (even salads, or veggies) lowfat milk, yogurt, nuts, seeds. But any breakfast right now will give you the nutrients and energy you need. If you've been in starvation mode for this long, any amount of food you eat, will make you feel like your belly is bulging. Get the proper amounts of lean meats with each meal, veggies or fruits with each meal. Consider taking a vitamin/mineral supplement. You body needs to get use to have normal amounts of food in it once again. Although exercise is great for everyone, why not focus on getting the proper nutrients back in your body, if you feel the need, take a walk, go easy. Focus on getting your body healthy, whole grain breads, cereals, rice, pasta. Low fat/skim cheese milk and yogurt at least 3 times a day, lean meats, fish, legumes or beans. Your body will re-adjust and so will your metabolism! Just make sure you eat, you body will tell you when you've eaten enough, but don't let yoursef get too hungry between meals.
